Talking Galleries stands for opening new ways of perceiving and developing the gallery practice. The platform provides the space and the channels for collaboration with other disciplines in order to open up the scope in which gallery behaviours are reviewed.
Since its inception, Talking Galleries has been working consistently alongside international universities and has awarded grants to MA and PhD art students. The aim of such collaboration is to encourage new critical and fresh approaches from young researchers, who are not necessarily involved in the gallery field, and trigger critical mechanisms to make the gallery practice move forward.
The involvement of MA and PhD students is part of the Open-Lab philosophy that Talking Galleries stands up for.
Barcelona Symposium 2015 & AGI-Art Globalization Interculturality
For the Barcelona Symposium (2-3 November, 2015), Talking Galleries awarded a grant to three PhD candidates from the Research Group Art Globalization Interculturality (AGI), from the University of Barcelona.
The grant holders chose a specific topic among those tackled during the sessions, and they developed a critical essay. The texts are published on our website, in this way greatly contributing to the enrichment of the debate started during the symposium.
