Born in Barcelona, graduated in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Maria Baró studied History of Art at the University of Barcelona. She began her professional career in the art world as an art dealer focused on the Asian market. In 1997 she moved to São Paulo (Brazil) where she developed exhibitions in local institutions. In 2010 she opened the current Baró Galeria located in a hangar of 1,500m in the city center of São Paulo. Baró Galeria currently has three spaces in the city—Galpón, a smaller gallery in the noble area and Jardins, a sustainable temporary architecture where alternative projects of performance and video are featured. The gallery participates in the main international and Latin American art fairs and is part of the committee of the São Paulo art fair. In 2017 is projected the opening of her first gallery in Europe.
