SWAB ART FAIR 1 – 4 October 2015
65 international art galleries and an engaging special programme
It is undoubtedly an autumn focused on contemporary art in Barcelona! Taking place at the same time as the first edition of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend, and one month ahead TALKING GALLERIES / BARCELONA SYMPOSIUM, from 1 to 4 October Barcelona hosts the eighth edition of Swab International Art Fair.
In this edition, 65 art galleries coming from 22 countries, will exhibit the work of more than a hundred artists in the premises of the Italian Pavillion in Montjuic. The general programme of Swab 2015 will host a significant number of mid-career galleries which play a relevant role in the global art scene. At the same time, the programme MYFAF, curated by Rosa Leon and Zaida Trallero, gives way to emerging galleries which participate in an international art fair for the first time.
New special projects join Swab for the first time. It is the case of Swab Seed, curated by David Armengol, which gives voice to a series of independent spaces and platforms dedicated to contemporary art that operate outside he institutional official domain; Swab Performance, a group of actions and specific interventions designed for the fair and curated by Juan Canela; and Swab Fórum, that counts with the expertise from the De Appel Arts Center in Amsterdam.
This year will also feature Swab Thinks, a space dedicated to debate about the transformation of the contemporary art world and the place that the artistic practices have in it, that will count on the participation of galleries, artists and curators.
