Mira Bernabeu
Back to the 2025 programme
Mira Bernabeu founded 1 Mira Madrid in 2019, a gallery located in Lavapiés focused on contemporary image with a critical, political, and feminist approach. In 2025, he launched 2 Mira Archiv, a second space dedicated to the digitization of cultural documentary collections, as well as their conservation, activation, and exhibition. Conceived as a site for research, critical memory, and reflection on the historical and social context, the project expands the gallery’s scope into archival practices. Bernabeu pursued postgraduate studies in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, and holds a Fine Arts degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He lives and works in Madrid. Since 2006, he has combined his artistic practice with gallery management, having co-directed the gallery Visor – Espaivisor (now closed) for twelve years. His work, included in collections such as IVAM, CGAC, MUSAC, and ARTIUM, explores human relationships from psychological and anthropological perspectives, addressing family, moral, and sociological issues through an austere, theatrical, and performative aesthetic.
